We visited on a Sunday in early October 2009. The hours that day were 12:00 - 4:30 it was €10 for entry. No photography. This is definitely a sight worth seeing as the book is beautiful, the history is impressive and the long room takes you back in time. Unfortunately because visitors go home and tell anyone who will listen... more

This book and others like it (almost exclusively done in Ireland) are an incredibly imprtant piece of the history of Western Civilization. When you go, take time to inspect the intricate work displayed on the pages that are open for view. Looks for odd details that were definitely included for a reason, some of which display the humour of the... more

The long hall was great, despite the no photos policy. The main exhibit on the Book of Kells was cool, the book itself was just okay. We got in free, otherwise its a bit overpriced. The gift shop felt tacky. Still, well worth the visit if you are so inclined, if only to see some of Trinity college. That said... more

the book was cool looking - the one page they have it open to that you get to see. other than that it was a pretty boring exhibit, and not as magnificent as I had expected. A must see because of the history, but do not skip others for this. more

This was our first visit upon arrival in Dublin and we got in at 10:30am. There weren't a lot of people so we got a lot of time to really look at the books and to explore the upper library. Really a neat way to start our trip! Be sure to print off the coupon pages from http://www.cultureheritageireland.com/# and you... more

We had done the free walking tour of the city, and the Guide (Barry) had taken us through Trinity College grounds and pointed out the Long Hall etc. He advised that the Book of Kells could be viewed at a cost, but that a Trinity College student is able to view it free of charge and sign in 4 "guests"... more

The history surrounding The Book of Kells is amazing and if you knowing nothing of it, the first half of the library will fill you in. I found the library upstairs to be the most impressive part of the library. My suggestion would be to read up on the history of The Book of Kells and spend the afternoon at... more

This was part of my tour package. We visited Trinity College on a Sunday afternoon. It unfortunately was very crowded and I wasn't very impressed with the actually viewing of the books. They are a very small glass case, that becomes very crowded and in a very dark room. I was sort of disappointed, however when we entered the Long... more

This is a great story presented well by Trinity College in the Old Library. It is an historic early bible transcribed by Celtic monks around 800 AD. There are much descriptive and historical information, videos of how they did it, and other historical manuscirpts to see. The Books of Kells itself only has two pages displayed, but you can see... more
