If you just have 35 minutes to spare, drive up to Calary and park in the car park along the road. Great little climb and you can also run it if you are feeling energetic!

Not far from the city. You would ideally need a car for access. Wild and beautiful particularly when the sun shines. On the doorstep of the city

Well, it's not the easiest of hills to get up in the Dublin mountains but the views and blueberries in the summer are well worth the exercise. I love the last bit of the climb where you almost have to scramble to get up to the top. The view of the Dublin and Wicklow mountains and the Irish sea is...

I grew up in Wicklow, the first time i climbed the sugarloaf was when i was around 6 years old, i have climed it several times with my girlfriend in the last few years. Its a really nice walk with nice views of the area as you go up and then a great view of the coast from the top....

sugar loaf in an imposing mountain about 15 miles from Dublin city centre. It looks like a volcano from the distance. The road brings you about half way up the mountain and 75% of the ascent is a nice stroll. The last bit, lots of lose schell ,is a bit difficult for small children and not recommended. The views from...

You can make a real walk of the Sugarloaf if you want; I normally do a 2-3 hour circuit route from Kilmacanogue village to the mountian top and back, but most people keep it simple.
For the "simple" route, drive to lat/long 53.14412, -6.15436 and find a place to park. As with any place else, your car should be safe...

A nice rocky quartz outcrop in North-East Wicklow. Gets its poor rating due to the "inhabitants" that squat nearby (Calary Side or South Side) that leave the place littered with burnt-out vehicles and general filth. Not a secure place for any vehicle due to thefts and car crime. No public transport, no amenities locally. The village of Kilmacanouge is nearby...

Amazing views of the wicklow mountains and Dublin bay, not too difficult for the children!

Easy to hike, more like a stroll. Nice views from up high. The best part was on the cold day that we visited, there was a gent with a coffee truck selling coffee, lattes, hot chocolates and even Irish Coffees!
