This two hour walking tour is led by a team of professional actors who follow in the footsteps of James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde, Brendan Behan and many others. You will hear renditions of prose, verse, drama and song from Dublin's literary hall of fame. The evening is packed with entertainment and also includes a quiz with prizes for the winners. As one critic wrote: 'A highly enjoyable evening that gives you the pleasant notion of replacing brain cells as you drown them'. Check our website for further details and to book online. « less

This is a great way to get a overview (feel) of the famous Irish Pubs and find out the more interesting aspects of the famous Irish Authors – and in a few hours. Lots of walking but it didn’t seem to strenuous. The actors were great. They also had a lot of information about Dublin during the potato famine and... More

Thank you so much for coming along and listening to the story of the pub, the poet and the pint. You are right in saying that so much of Irish history finds its way into the pub; helped by 'porter running from the taps/with a head of yellow cream'. Mind you, political talk was often banned in pubs, especially after... More

Enjoyed a great night out in the Temple Bar area, listening to renditions of plays, exerpts and quotes from great Irish authors and tales about their time in Dublin. It's a great little taster of Irish literature, pubs, performance and an insight into the importance of public houses to Irish history. The actors pack a lot into 2 and-a-bit hours... More

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I do feel guilty about not including WBY. I do include moderns like Eavan Boland and Brendan Kennelly to bring the story up-to-date. Yeats was no Dublin pub goer, although he liked a jar or two. It's a case of who to leave out in a city blessed with so many world renowned writers.... More

This is a real fun time. It's a trip from pub to pub with some great renditions and stories by the leaders (professional actors) in between. How much you drink is up to you, and the time in the pubs is limited. However, some of the younger members of the part were very merry by the end. It was a... More

Thanks for joining us. Great to see those younger audience members still joining after 25 years. Have a look at our facebook page and you will note the broad spectrum of age that the audience includes. The weather has been terrible all over Europe for the last two months. Despite that, people come along on this tour of Dublin's pub... More

Had a great couple of hours being entertained and educated by these two friendly hosts.Learned plenty of facts about Dublins finest authors (Oscar Wilde in an American silver mine!). Four pubs with some Irish history in each, a pint of guinness & a short stroll to the next pub - a great way to spend an evening! We left the... More

A fabulous fun trip through Irish literary history. The chaps leading the crawl are professional actors and over the course of 2.5 hours you are taken on a journey through the books and authors that made Ireland famous. On route you visit pubs that fit in with the literary history that is performed for you in historic locations such as... More

We really enjoyed this two hour tour.... we were two mums with a teenage daughter apiece and they got the balance just right for us - not too boozy, not too stiff, plenty of humour and interesting tales. The pubs we visited were charming and full of history; the actors friendly and engaging and the pub quiz was the icing... More

Thank you for coming along. I am delighted you enjoyed the tour and the blend of entertainment and historic pub stop. No still academic lecture...just a couple of pro actors telling the story of the pub, the poet and the pint. All the best COLM More

We started at the Duke, and proceeded to four pubs, with enchanting, witty tales between each pub stop. Well acted, quite theatrical. We also stopped in Trinity College for an interesting tale. Overall, worth the time and money.

I have taken this tour several times and have always been well entertained. Also, I It starts at The Duke pub, which is really comfortable, and from there, two actors will lead you through several of Dublin's pubs and in between, they'll act out scenes from famous Irish novels and plays (love their "Waiting for Godot" bit). You'll get to... More

My wife and I picked this for one of our few evenings in Dublin, and the best part was all of the pubs you get to see. You hear a little bit about the stories behind them and how they intertwined with the lives of the writers mentioned, but not a lot. I'm a writer/actor so I had high hopes... More

Under the Intoxicating Liquor Act of 2002 it is against the law to discount alcohol Ireland. This may be due to our history of heavy drinking, which we do not promote on this tour. Why would a customer come Dublin and want me to procure a 'free' drink for him? And we don't promote a negative message on our website.... More

Whether you're in Dublin for a day or a week, be sure to get your ticket for this event which lasts for just over two hours but does include twenty minutes of drinking time in three of the four pubs we were shown to. But you don't have to be a "drinker" to enjoy the tour. The tour is about... More
