We drove the Ring of Kerry clockwise, starting at the Gap of Dunloe. We didnt't have detailed directions with us; just the map in the rental car, so The Gap of Dunloe took us almost 2 hours. I'm not sure if most people turn around at the third lake, but we drove through. We probably could have turned around as... More

We drove clockwise on the ring because we didn’t want to be behind tour buses and the left side of the road is closer to the coast. As you drive, there are many areas to pull over to see the spectacular views. That said, I recommend timid drivers to avoid driving the ring altogether and stick to tour buses. Many... More

We spent a whole day driving around the Ring of Kerry, and although the weather was not great it was an amazing day. We followed the advice and travelled anti-clockwise, the same way as the coaches, which made sense at the time.travelling. We were stuck behind a French coach for over 30 minutes, with no places to pass, and the... More

really, after driving the coast in dingle and county clare, the ring of kerry seemed about the same, if not below average. killarney is great, but the rest? the only reason to drive it is to make it to the skellig michael boats. skellig michael is awesome. More

I wish that I had allotted two days for this, but I did the drive in one and then stopped in Adare for the night. I had read to go counter-clockwise, but due to some interesting navigation by my Hertz "neverlost" system, I ended up going clockwise. Maybe because it was March and low season, I had very few people... More

My wife and I left Killarney about 930am, headed in counter-clockwise direction for Portamagee so she could check it out and decide if she wanted to book trip for next day (she's pregnant and wasn't sure if she wanted to deal with the seas). Beautiful scenery and easy driving to that point. Did the "best cliff views" tourist trap, for... More

A drive around the Ring of Kerry is a must. Every where you stop there are wonderful photo opportunities. The area around the Skelligs is a beautiful area. We enjoyed watching the sheep crossing the roads along the way and stopping for lunch in the villages along the drive. Everything along the Ring is just at a slower pace so... More

This scenery is some of the most beautiful on Earth. There are several places along the way to stop and really let it sink in. We actually did the ring in one day. Most recommend spending several days on it, and if you want to do some hiking, biking, or horseback riding, then you should. However, if all you are... More
