Although not as large as St. Canice's, this is a real step back in time to the Middle Ages. The stained glass windows a particularly impressive, especially the Rose window. More

As we were reading, a gentleman came up to us and started giving a history about the abbey. I was especially interested in the statue of the father, son and holy ghost. Anyway, after talking to... After walking to Smithwicks, we cross the road and walked down a short alley. Next stop, the Black Abbey. The interior of the church is beautiful, with some extremely rare stained glass. We were very lucky and encountered one of the friars - and he gave us a great tour and history of the Abbey. Well worth a visit -... More
