Myself and husband paid a visit to the museum and found it to be a wonderful cultural place. We had tea in the restaurant which was really lovely. There is a wide range of delicious food from soup, sandwiches, baked potatoes to full meals and to finish delicious cakes.Well worth a visit! More

If you are nearby, don't miss this museum of country life - the tools, clothing, lifestyle and strengths of the country people are explained and described in pictures and film and, where possible, shown. Very interestingly displayed and a pleasure to visit. More

This a pure gem in the heart of the countryside. One would want to give themselves plenty of time to browse and read all the plaques. Its like taking a step back into history. Let yourself get emersed in the theme and its a wonderful day out More

Much bigger museum than I had anticipated but extremely interesting and educational about all the old crafts etc so leave yourself plenty of time to explore this place and best of all it was free. More

Visitors to the Mayo area-especially to Wesport/Castlebar should make the trip to the Museum of country Life in Turlough- a picturesque village outside Castlebar town. Such gems of olden times in rural ireland are on display in the museum which has free admission. The ground of Turlough House itself provide stunning walks and beautiful views over Turlough Village and the... More

Not only is the museum itself very modern (with the obvious exception of the historical objects) but the grounds are kept very well and are lovely to walk around. It is definitely... More

This museum was fantastic for the kids. They were encouraged to try out the clothes worn by children of the same age from years ago. The first time we ever brought them to a museum without the "I'm bored" routine ! More
