Knowth is another passage tomb located in the Boyne Valley within sight of Newgrange (see my separate review for Newgrange). It has two passages running deep into the mound (Newgrange has one), and like Newgrange has exquisite examples of neolithic rock art. But this is where similarities end: the largest mound at Knowth is surrounded by smaller "satellite" burial mounds... more

While the tour is not as impressive as the one at Newgrange, Knowth has much that is not available at its more famous cousin. Unlike Newgrange, Knowth has a long history of use and human habitation ending only a few hundred years ago.
