“Peaceful haven close to Sligo town”

This is a historic well dating back to the time of St Patrick. There is a mass rock that was used in Penal Times when freedom of religion was suppressed. The "Holy Well" as it is know locally is situated about 2 miles from Sligo Town near Lough Gill,it was used in Pagan times,but during the penal times in Ireland when Roman Catholics were forbidden to attend Mass & Priests were forbidden to say Mass,It was celeberated in secret there,people walked in their bare feet at the crack of Dawn...
