Very hot when we visited. Within short time of arrival family members were ill and we had to leave but we were kindly given complementary tickets to return within the next year. It seems expensive unless you are a RHS member. The shop is really well stocked and it is of course a joy to have Betty's teashop on site.

45 minute walk from Harrogate Through Valley Gardens and Pinewood or short bus ride on Number 6 every 20 mins from/to The Bus Station. Well served with branches of Bettys. Lovely streamside planting; Alpine House and good shop and garden centre. Plenty of free parking.

I joined the RHS on my first visit here and so went back the next day - just a 40 min walk through Valley Gardens and Pine wood from the centre of Harrogate then the Number 6 bus back to town after tiring myself out walking round the gardens. Lots to see and do in the fabulous garden. With library...

These gardens are on the outskirts of Harrogate. These are massive gardens maintained by the Royal Horticultural Society. There were garden 'rooms' duplicating the styles of different eras of gardens in Britain. Many of these had tulips and other bulb flowers. We then walked through the woodland areas which had a vast variety of trees; there were bluebells and daffodils...

Visited Harlow Carr mid-week and out of season and it wasn't too busy though it's clearly a mecca for plant lovers!
It's just the right size for an amble and we spent a couple of hours wandering around the gardens. Lovely.
We treated ourselves to lunch at Bettys which is onsite and the service and the food were both excellent....

Loved Betty's despite being on a diet but seriously the gardens are an absolute delight - it is a long time since we visited but will certainly be going back at a different time of year, It is so well laid out with lots of talks and activities you can join in. The plants for sale are fantastic too

A wonderful extensive garden including woods, lawns, garden beds and a 'study' area and run by the Royal Horticultural Society. Every season introduces you to some further aspect of the garden that I certainly had not thought of. Such an interesting place with advice and enthusiasm shown by all the staff. Some people go, for a visit to the onsite...

We visited the gardens while in Harrogate for our first family holiday (with a 12 week old baby). Unlike other attractions this was pram friendly and we also were fortunate to have nice weather. The gardens are beautiful, sights that even non green fingers can enjoy and there is a large tree house and maze to keep the children happy...

Lots of little areas depicting gardens through the ages. Rock gardens lovely. New play areas for kids and maze, also Betty's tea shop on site.
