Housed in an impressive building and in the very nice location of Salford Quays, The Lowry is definitely worth a visit. Entrance is by voluntary contribution and there are three main gallery rooms to see. Periodic talks are given by a curator and it's worth checking when these are held as they add enormously to the visit experience. There are... more

We took a trip down to Manchester as a friend specifically wanted to see Lowry's paintings in the Lowry Gallery. The building itself is funky and cool looking - very modern (not to everyones taste I suppose). We were staying over so got free parking at the hotel (Holiday Inn Express - very good - read my review), otherwise you... more

Entry to the galleries is by ticket, but payment of a donation. This was my first visit to the Lowry Centre and I was pleased to see so many Lowry pictures. There seem to be more here than in the old location on the Crescent. There was an interesting display alongside to encourage children to draw. It looks well worth... more

Whenever we have visitors we usually take them to the Imperial War Museum and walk across to the Lowry Centre. As someone says elsewhere the parking isn't cheap at either place but in the daytime you can see both attractions from 1 car park and entrance to both is free or donation. I've never seen either place very busy although... more

This review is of the Lowry Centre, not the Lowry Hotel. I had great hopes for the Lowry when it opened but these have fallen away. The centre often has exhibitions worth seeing and in the evening there is a fine range of theatre and music. Its theatres are very good indeed, with the larger one being outstanding for opera.... more

This part of the website is intended to cover the Lowry Centre, but most people are using it for the hotel, which is a couple of miles away. The Lowry Centre is a superb Arts complex situated in Salford Quays. It is a magnificent building, worthy of any city in the world. If you're in Manchester for a few days... more

The hotel is beautiful and top class. I was able to book a special rate of 120 pounds from their site and it really was a steal (I've paid more for other hotels that were much less impressive). And I have also heard this swanky hotel is a high-society hangout where some of my friends have spotted England footballers. Rooms... more

We stayed at the Lowry recently and had a fabulous time, great room - even though it was only a standard it was huge. Really comfy bed and a super bathroom. All of the staff we met were excellent - they were friendly, efficient, enthusiastic and professional. Only downside was the usual modern and annoying trend of breakfast not being... more

The previous reviewer is refering to the Lowry Hotel whereas this attraction is the Lowry Centre in Salford Quays. It houses an Art Gallery, Theatre, Restaurant, bars and small shops/qiosks. Next door to it is a discount shopping mall. There are hotels in the vicinity of the Lowry Centre but the centre itself does not house any hotels. So I'm... more

Stayed here for one night on 21st Jan 06 with my husband, staying in a 'Deluxe Riverside Room'. Parking is just outside the front door, the concierge greets you as you get out of your car and takes your luggage. Check-in was fast, the receptionist walked us up to our room, let us in and checked we were happy with... more
