Took my elderly parents to see the Chateau - it is wonderful - the views are fabulous.
A bit of climbing to do if you want to see it all.
Village of Beynac is pretty and some nice places to eat on the River. Easy to reach.
Wanted to do the boat ride on the river but unfortunately the water...

We have seen a lot of Scottish castles recently, but Chateau de Beynac was quite different in terms of the architecture and (lack of) preservation. For example, there are massive old tapestries hanging on the castle walls in some rooms which are just flapping around in the breeze deteriorating, but in Scotland they all seem to be protected behind glass....

history of the place and the views. Makes you think about people who have gone before us and what they did, and the fighting that must have gone on in the area

The boat ride was very relaxing and mellow. The guide did some translating into English for us as the tour is in French. It was a nice way to view Beynac. I think it was worth the money.

The best of this castle are the aerial views you have from La Loire Valley. Just wonderful!
The castle itself is also very interesting. There are various spaces and towers.
You can't miss this attraction.

It is quite a hike to get to it, with very steep and sometime slippery cobbled road, but it is worth every penny. My 5 year old children enjoyed it very...

Presented in an informative and respectful way that is very French, this castle is just great. There is something for all ages and imaginations. You get an authentic view of life and death in the castle era. There is a plethora of exhibits and good explanations. Well worth three hours.

As soon as you spot Chateau de Beynac sitting atop a massive outcrop of rock high above the River Dordogne you know you're in for something special. Slowly wend your way up from the narrow river road at the bottom and you will eventually be met by a very impressive portcullis. You will find no audio visual displays in this...
