Not a great museum/aquarium - if you want to see a proper aquarium in France go to the one in La Rochelle, it's a million times better. I also thought 13Euro was very steep, considering we spent less than 40 minutes in the place!

The Musee de la Mer of Biarritz is a very complete, very interesting one. It is very focused on fishes (cartilagenous and bony), and marine mammals, and this part well done. A bit pricey albeit it is a lovely museum. A bit repetitive and entirely geared to one language only ; yet the majority of visitors seem to be from elsewhere and other than French !

we took a roadtrip through the basque country, from portugal ,stopping at various seaside villages on the way. biarritz was memorable for the glamour of the shopping areas the delicious seafood at the outdoor restaurants and the spectacular coastline and its interesting rock formations.
the old port was created out of the existing rocks and one can walk high above...

Musee de la Mer is a good place to spend a couple of hours in Biarritz if you have children or are interested in the marine environment.
We saw the seals being fed (commentary in french) and there is a wide range of exhibits - species from the North Atlantic to the Caribbean and the Indo-Pacific are all on display....

The Musée de la Mer has been one of my favorite places in Biarritz for decades. The museum is being renovated by the the time being. Not English speaker friendly. Very simple fish selection and way of performing them compared to e.g. Genova Aquarium. 16 euros for two was quite a lot for this.
