I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the Font-de-Gaume or the cave man art but was going because my husband and my mom wanted to go. I was WRONG!! Wow. It is incredible to see the movement, life, and imagination in these etchings and paintings. To say it took my breath away doesn't describe it.

We made reservations to see this cave after Font de Gaume. It is lovely and quite different. On the downside our guide really did not speak English well so it was difficult to understand what we were looking at several times. Later, we went to the PIP and reviewed some books of the drawings. Wished we had done that first....

If you're in the area-- lucky you!! The week my spouse, two friends and I spent in le Perigord was one of the happiest in my life.
And since you're there, why not take in a little pre-history? The caves of Les Combarelles are one of many options, and not a bad one at that. We took what I recall...
