Find the quimper kayak club by the river. It is by the Etang. Do a half day - paddle down with the tide...no experience needed , no support boats, so you'll have to be a teensy bit brave, but it's a great adventure to do with kids. I never thought of the river as a particular place to visit in Quimper. We usually park close to it when we want to visit the cathedral and downtown, but that's about it.
