The Musee du Chateau focuses on the nautical history of St Malo, and has many interesting exhibits of ship-related items from some hundreds of years ago. There are also many model ships and paintings of ships.

The view from the tower is worth the price of admission alone. The museum holds a nice collection of maritime artifacts. We had to pass through quite quickly due to the late hour of the day but we still thoroughly enjoyed this museum.

I went on a mid-November afternoon and during my hour looking round saw no other visitors. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, the ticket about £5.
The exhibits are arranged on about five floors and include an external watch tower level near the roof obeying good views. I have basic French but sometimes struggled with the explanatory notes and labels....
