Today's society could learn a great deal about charity by studying the history of this building with it's dedication to caring for the poor and elderly for hundreds of years. The most famous landmark in Beaune, and well worth a visit. I'm always disappointed when our guests (surprisingly often) skip the visit as it's such an interesting and authentic experience. More

I found this to be one of the most memorable sites we saw in our two weeks in France. The audio guide was mainly a"dialogue between the husband and wife "that founded the Hotel-Dieu -very good . As much as anything we decided to visit to get out of the rain, and we were jolly pleased we did.
