This was going to be a brief stop on the way out of town, but we ended up staying far longer. The pagoda itself is really picturesque. And it's very fun to climb the tiny winding staircase to the top. But what we loved most was the garden full of old-timey wooden games! There are dozens of large wooden gaming... More

We loved the Pagode de Chanteloup. Wooden games were great fun for us and the kids (aged 7 & 5). The grounds are large and mature, the tower unique, atmosphere calm and relaxed. We enjoyed our picnic hamper & wine - well worth a visit for a calm, fun afternoon out. More

We were very disappointed and felt totally misled by the leaflet we had picked up. The games area is interesting but that is about it. Unless we missed something that wasn't signed posted or on the map there is very little to see. Not to be recommended when there are so many other places to see. More

During our planning, we received BAD information about the Pagoda. We were told that the grounds around the Pagoda could be enjoyed for free but if you wanted to actually go up into the Pagoda, you needed to pay. We made the long walk from Amboise (much longer then 30 minutes... more like 1 1/2 hours!) and entered the grounds... More

OK, I confess...I'm a fan of follies and other quirky garden buildings! But this building is superb. An absolute gem. Not over restored, you can climb to the top. A remnant of a once important park, it is an evocative gem. Don't just look at all the wonderful chateaux, go here as well. The only reason I didn't give it... More

As a summer tour leader for high school students, I was always looking for something interesting and out of the ordinary to keep the kids' interest level up. I'm so glad I discovered this Pagode in Amboise. We walked from town (about a 30 minute walk) and it was a beautiful, well-marked route. The park around the Pagode contains lots... More

Visited this charming relic last week on our tour of the Loire Valley. Try to get ahold of some photos, because it's hard to understand otherwise. It's an oriental style garden stone structure. Circular with seven stories, each story is smaller than the one below so the final story is about three yards in diameter. The place is not being... More
