Only a couple of miles from Azay yet it seems not known to many people and not overrun like so many of the bigger chateaus - there were only about 10 cars when we went. There are twelve themed gardens on a modest scale when compared with Villandry, less fornal but equally beautiful. The gardener comes from Villandry and this...

I thought this was going to be our secret when we stumbled on it in May looking for a place to picnic. Ah well. It is enchanting. Small, secluded, verdant, fairy tale. The chateau cannot be visited. There are no rest rooms. Only those incredible gardens and the magical views of the picture book chateau. And a blissful place to...
