We took a tourist shuttle bus to Provins. A group of people were dropped off first and picked up last at Fontainebleau. The trip itself was about an hour and a half in length. The drive through the French countryside was absolutely beautiful. Taking the shuttle is a little pricey but is comfortable and includes admission to several historical sites... More

There is lots to visit in this medieval town - from the underground passages to Cesar's Tower - all fascinating. We also did the Eagles of the Ramparts - w bird of prey show which had lots of audience involvement. Take sunglasses though - even if it's not sunny it's bright in the arena. This was my second visit and... More

The Good: Provins is a quaint little medieval town about an hour and a half train ride from Paris Gare d' Est. Trains run about once an hour. If you have Mobilis or Paris Visite zone 1-5, train is free and train has power outlets and toilets. This is important later. The city walls are intact for several hundred meters... More

We elected to take a day trip out to Provins, a medieval town and UNESCO designated heritage site, instead of Versailles. It was well-worth the 1-1/2 hour train ride out through the French countryside. The site was extremely interesting to walk through including a well-preserved village, church, fortress//prison, and city ramparts dating back to the 1100s. When you arrive at... More

Provins is a village near Paris, surrouned by its gorgeous medieval castle. It's part of the Unesco world Heritage. You feel welcomed as visitor, from the Tourist Information Office to the Museum...it's all worth visiting. we also went to the "the legend of the Knights" show by Equestrio, it was simply amazing! the show lasted 45 minutes but time went... Our family just returned from a wonderful trip through four countries in Europe. We enjoyed the bustling city of Paris, but the highlight of our time in France was a relaxing trip to Provins! It's small enough for a one-day excursion, but we recommend staying at least one night to get a real feel for this beautiful area. Provins is... More

We'd never heard of Provins and couldn't find it in any of the guidebooks, so we're grateful to the diplomat who let us know it existed. Provins has a population of 16,000 and had the same number of people in the 12th century, when it was one of the three largest market towns in France. It fell into obscurity as... More

One can find lots of things about Provins by the very well organised website, and get a very good idea about what to meet there, we could not help but praise it online ourselves. The setting is really awe inspiring, the stone walls, the buildings, the attractions, the shows, the technology, the people... Every visit in Provins has to begin... More

We had to get to the airport but are planning a trip back there in the next few years. The trolley never came so we spend our time in the center of town. The food was great and we watched the French kids play and wait for the school bus. it was a step back in time. More

We found Provins via the Michelin guide to 'Beautiful Villages Worth a Detour'. And what a beautiful, atmospheric place it is. Would like to go back with the grandchildren to see the enactments which take place frequently in the summer. A great stop for first night or two on your way south to other Unesco sites. A wonderful way to... More
