We went on Paris Canal tour from Park Villette back to the d'orsey. It was very slow but interesting. don't forget to bring water as nothing is available on the boat except a bathroom. Having about a 1/2 hour on the seine was a nice bonus also. more

Was a bit disappointed. This was our 4th trip to Paris so looking for something new. Cycled up on the traffic free day (you still have to watch out - not everyone obeys the signs!) Looks like an urban regeneration scheme which hasn't quite taken off. Nothing really to draw us in & the still, green, scummy canal isn't a... more

I took the Canauxrama tour, and found the crew to be fantastically friendly, especially Mathieu the photographer. These people certainly seem to enojoy their jobs, and rightly so, because the canal St-Martin is truly one of Paris's most beautiful places, and one that comparatively few tourists see. It's not to be missed, and I strongly recommend Canauxrama. more

We bought our tickets online before we went to Paris from the Canauxrama website which made this good value. The trip is slow and leisurely but very interesting as you go through four double locks and two swing bridges. There is food and drinks available on board and the staff are very friendly. The narrator speaks very good English. The... more

Canal St-Martin can be a hit or miss experience, especially if you are walking along it and not taking a boat tour. It is very picturesque, and if you have become acquainted with it by images from movies you will look forward to seeing it. Tour books will have wonderful descriptions of it with people walking, biking, and picnicking along... more

Maybe it's just the part of the canal along which we walked but there is little if any reason to visit this canal when there is so much more to do elsewhere. more

During my stay in Paris, I enjoyed a 21/2 hour boat tour from in front pf musee d'Orsay to the park La vallette. OBviously the first part is on the Seine. However, the most interesting part of the tour is when you turn into the St.Martin's canal. The great aspects of this boat tour is the passing through 7 locks,... more

My family and I went on this tour. It was 17 EU for adults and cheaper for those under 25. It lasted about 2 1/2 hours and is leisurely. The trip goes thru 7 'locks' that lower you down to the level of the Seine. It was slow paced but the guide was very entertaining. It was a nice short... more

Would suggest catching the metro to Porte de la Villette, then taking the canal back to Musee D'Orsay, boat leaves from Musee D'Orsay around 9.00 each morning, leaving La Villette at 2.30ish. Up and back would be a bit much unless you love locks (10 in all). La Villette has a huge Science Museum just outside the station, lots of... more

We took the afternoon cruise from Parc de la Villette to Marina Arsenal and it was excellent. You travel through several small locks, along some interesting (and not so interesting) parts of Paris, and finally a beautiful ride in a tunnel under a part of Paris and the Bastille. The tunnel was particularly beautiful as about every sevel hundred feet... more
