The museum is located in the beautiful 15th century Hotel de Cluny. We actually enjoyed a visit on a rainy New Year's Eve morning in 2009 but ran out of time to visit again during our May 2012 Paris trip.
The centre piece of the museum are the c 1500 series of Lady and the Unicorn tapestries, but there are...

This is a wonderful museum, with a magnificent collection of medieval treasures that you can get close to and marvel at. It's not hugely popular, so you can spend time looking in ways that can't be expected in other Parisian museums.

I wasn't particularly interested in the Middle Ages, but I found this musem, which is not too large, interesting. The six tapestries of the Lady and the Unicorn were fascinating and beautiful. Also don't miss the heads of the kings of Judah, which were knocked off the Notre Dame Cathedral during the Revolution and were later rediscovered.

This little gem is right in the heart of St Germain and definitely worth a visit. It has a beautiful garden outside full of herbs and flowers which is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the sunshine.
The museum itself is fascinating and it was especially exciting to see the Lady and the Unicorn tapestries for the first time...

We had a museum pass but ended up going in the museum backwards! A short tour through is all you need -- see the Unicorns displayed in the room. Get a written guide (guide book or from gift shop) to see what is important in each tapestry. Not a crowded museum> Good gift shop.

The museum assembles articles that bring the sense of the middle ages into the present. Even the maze-like arrangement of rooms and levels serves to disorient the modern visitor (in a good way).
