We schedule a combination guided tour for Paris Historic including Notre Dame, Musee du Louvre, and Montmatre through Gray Line. The cost of the one day combination tour was around $160 per person. The Louvre part of the tour was a couple of hours, which was enough for me especially considering the tour guide hit the highlights and gave us... More

The Louvre collection is a monument of (often looted) human artistic achievement. That's all you need to know when deciding whether to visit. My comments below are advice rather than a "review", because you simply MUST go. It's true that the museum is enormously busy, and lines can be atrocious. There are some ways to avoid long waits. Arrive right... More

Love the exhibits (or all the ones I could see within 7 hours). The museum is so big that to really see it in its entirety you would have to come back every day for at least a week. But besides this, it of course is something everyone must see and if you go to Paris you'd be a fool... More

Since it's obviously an amazing place, I will use this space to give a couple of tips instead of an actual review. I hate to say it, but do take those signs about pickpockets seriously. Someone tried to unzip my purse and ran away when I turned around and caught them in the act. So, no accessible zippers, wallets in... More

the place is immense, so plan your itinerary with the excellent maps and guides they provide and pace yourself accordingly. Do NOT try to see everything! More

Absolute MUST you will be overwhelmed by the sheer size of this place and it can be intimidating. Suggestion: go see the Big and Famous items first Venus, Mona, and David, soak it on, take a picture and then move on. The remainder of the museum is phenomenal. Pick a wing and spend the day there. You cannot see and... More

Well, much people had said very nice things about the Louvre. yes, they are true. But now, a hint to visit ALL Louvre and burn your eyes (and feet) of artwork seeing 0. Go EARLY 1. Pick the big free paper guide and a pen. After each room, mark it 2. Choose one of the three aisles. Always take the... More

This former Royal Residence, now "art" gallery is so vast, and has so much to see, that I have only seen a small part of it! I think I would need 8 hours a day, and 7 days a week for an entire month, and even then probably not see all that there is to see there! It is absolutely... More

We only had 2 hours to spend at the Louvre after river cruise and walking from the Eiffel Tower here. A lot to see and our camera battery died (pity that I left the DSLR at the baggage check-in). Its hard to catch a glimpse of the Mona Lisa. Wish they had some queue for each and everyone to see... More
