...but this was not worth the time. The only redeeming part was the long poster presentation outlining the history of water acquisition and refuse disposal in Paris. There is a gift shop, though. more

My daughter wanted to check the place out so we went. It was interesting, a little humid and smelly but it gave you another perspective and history of Paris. It is not that big and we were out of the place in about 40 minutes. I thought it would be claustrophobic but it wasn't. As I said, it was interesting. more

It's not your normal Parisian attraction but well worth visiting for it's excellent history lesson and a taste (perhaps that's the wrong word to use!) of Paris from a different angle. Actually, it doesn't smell that bad and, if you have children, they'll probably be delighted with the faint odour and even more delighted with the tales of dead bodies... more

This was by far the most interesting thing that we did in Paris. It was a little smelly at first, but the exhibits (in French and English) were very interesting. Yes, you really are in sewer tunnels, and at one point you're suspended on a grating over rushing water. My 13-year old son had to put together a slide show... more

We just visited this although not a planned visit - the Eiffel Tower was closed due to snow so we were looking for something to do in the few hours we had left. There is quite a bit of reading and my 7 year old found the smell a bit too much but all in all an interesting walk around... more

The Musee des Egouts is an interesting and informative attraction, situated under an unassuming ticket booth near the Pont d'Alma. It is open every day from 11am (May-September) apart from Fridays. Tickets cost 4.20 euros per adult and the queue minimal. The staff were very friendly and pleasant and as we had just missed the tour in English we looked... more

If you want to get to the bottom of things in Paris, consider a visit to the sewers. There is a little museum explaining how the system was developed and displaying some of the equipment used to maintain the facilities. Surprisingly there is very little in the way of smell but you can't escape the sound of running water. There... more

Unless you're overly interested in what happens to potable and used waters under the ground in this great city, don't bother doing this tour. (And even if you are, I would recommend reading up on this online or in a book). We ended up here while trying to avoid some downpours during a walk near the eiffel tower. What a... more

Fascinating tour, and certainly unique. But remember that the tour is in a working sewer - in other words, wear closed toe shoes and maybe a hat. And don't go just before lunch. more
