IS this an opera house??? I sincerely doubt.... Yes there is an auditorium, undoubtly. Nonetheless, the grandeur of the place makes one believe that s/he is in a palace, rather than a theatre. Everything inside is made to surprise .... from the main staircase, to the affrescos, to the hall which resembles the hall of mirror. more

As a Phantom of the Opera fanatic, I was obligated to check out the Palais Ganier, and am I glad I did! The Opera House is absolutely breathtaking and magnificent. Unless you're already quite familiar with the place, I recommend taking the tour to hear and see all the little nuances that Garnier added to the Opera House. Plus, you... more

SO beautiful and gorgeous. Absolutely breathtaking. We went the first time and it said the theatre was closed due to rehearsal s we left nd came back the second day. Same sign but it was our last day so we went anyway. There were doors open on teh second floor so you could see the hall. Totally worth it. VERY... more

(Visit April 2007) Unbelievable. For fans of Phantom the staircase and chandelier will give you chills. For those who don’t know the connection it’s still a spectacle. Almost 150 years old and still functioning and glamorous . Exploring the various rooms and parlors surrounding the main theatre may be more impressive. There is a cutaway model of the whole opera... more

This building is beautiful, well worth the 8 Euro entrance fee. In particular for fans of Phantom of the Opera (Film or Stage Show) its wonderful, brings so much to life when you see things which have so obviuosly influenced the show & film. But even if youve never seen Phantom & frankly dont want to, its still worth the... more

Chagall lovers MUST see the interior ceiling of the main performance hall. The ceiling was created by Marc Chagall and is signed in the White Section of the outer circle, dated 1964. Another signature is also placed in the Inner Circle between the Inner Yellow and Blue Sections. I visited and shot photographs on October 1, 2005. If you are... more

The Opera house is just amazing. Not only does it look breath taking outside, it is just beautiful inside. We got there just before it opened at 10.00am. I would advise this time as about 10.30 onwards it got quite busy. The staircase is just like it is in the show and film my sister did sing Masqurade 'excuse spelling'... more

My husband and I visited Paris back in June and the Opera House was one of our ultimate fav. attractions. Yes, if you love The Phantom of the Opera, you MUST visit. This is where the opera was created. It is truly beautiful, from the grand staircase to the hall itself. If you don't want to pay the admission price... more

While the previous reviewer's experience is maddening, I recommend giving the Opera a shot anyway. It's a treat for anyone who loves the opulent design of the Belle Epoque, and of course a pilgrimage site for lovers of *Phantom of the Opera* (You can sng "Masquerade" as you roam up and down the red staircase, and there really *is* a... more

My daughter and I recently enjoyed a trip to Paris and saw the major highlights the city offers. I have been there many times and the sights were all repeats for me except one - l'Opera Garnier. We walked to it early in our stay and scoped out the tour times and open days. Later in the week we returned... more
