The opera is like something never seen in America! Red. gold and mirrors everywhere. So lush and elegant one can visualize the 1800's. We had a guide from Paris Walks and think that hearing the stories around how it came to be give a context for enjoying it. Although there are many tour groups, it did not seem crowded. More

This is just for the outside of the Opera National de Paris as we didn't manage to find time to go inside. Next visit for sure... a walking tour inside as well as a show. More

I went here with one of my close friends on Christmas eve to see a ballet (the name escapes me). The ambiance at the Palais Garnier really can't be beat. We didn't have great seats (though the price was completely fair for what we got), but just being able to say that we went to the ballet in Paris was... More

Magnificent....outside and in. The Staircase, the Hall, the Theatre, all overwhelm the eye. Thy were rehearsing a ballet when I was there, a bit of an extra treat. More

You can not go to Paris and not be impressed by this magnificently beautiful building. Steeped in history and of course "home" of the phantom of the opera, there is in fact a lake too. You can almost hear the horse drawn carriages from a time gone by. Beautiful by day magnificent site at night More

Based on comments by other travelers, we wanted to experience the Opera Garnier during a performance. Although there was no ballet during our week in Paris, there was a Salon Concert. It consisted of a bass, cello and three violins. The tickets were not expensive and I bought them in advance on line. We had wonderful seats in a loge... More
