Based on my research, I expected to see cells, including Marie Antoinette's, and displays to give an idea of what occurred here. Yes, the cells were there as expected. But the rest of it was very dull and poorly organized. There was a temporary exhibition of photographs that were unrelated, and perhaps other items were taken off display to make... more

La Conciergerie is a very important place to visit if you go in Paris. If you don't know a thing about Reign of terror, you may think this place is not interesting, specially without a guided tour, but if you are interested in France history, you gonna love it. This place was buitl in 14th century as a luxourious royal... more

On the plus side, they did have some descriptions of the history in English (can't always count on this in Paris). As others have noted, however, there really isn't much to see inside. What they did have on display did not elicit a wow reaction. We didn't join a tour, which apparently only take place at 11 AM and 3... more

The exterior is imposing and this building is a landmark of French history. However, there isn't a lot to see inside. As you go in, you find yourself in a wide hall. Then, onto the shop to access the prison. The prison is ok, but the model aren't of great quality. Nonetheless, it still gives a picture of life in... more

Got in with the €10 joint Sainte Chapelle/Conciergerie ticket. No queue. Right next to the Sainte Chapelle. This is the building were people were kept prisoners during the revolution, including Marie Antoinette, before being executed. There's lots to see here with the prison cells being the high point. The models aren't very good but they should raise a smile rather... more

I enjoy reading about French history, and have always been fascinated by the stories of Robspierre, Antoinette and others who's lives passed through Le Conciergerie. Sadly, I was disappointed by the actual building. I should note that I didn't go in with a tour guide, so more often than not, I didn't know what I was looking at. All in... more

If you are an American teacher going to Paris, be sure to take something identifying you as such! I showed my school ID card and got into the Conciergerie FOR FREE! Anything official looking with your name and the word "school" on it will probably work. (This will work in several other museums as well.) I've been to Paris several... more

I ordered my 5 day Metro pass and 3 day museum pass on the La Conciergerie website. There was and $8 delivery fee to my hotel but I was glad both passes were there when I arrived as it made things a lot easier. The museum pass is definitely a good idea as I never had to stand in line... more

Dear Gérard played the part of Danton in the movie by the same name, couldn't resist since G's the John Wayne of French movies. There are tours in English, wonderful stories of the people imprisoned there, the queen's quarters, the tiny atrium for the women, one tiny pipe of water to the fountain where they freshened up, the flood height... more
