Unless you are stayiing in Montmartre it can be a lot of work just getting here! It was worthwhile seeing for sure. Sitting on the steps and seeing the view of Paris like no other is also a draw. I wouldn't have missed it.

The basilica itself is quite lovely, but the staff is rude and confrontational. When you enter, they warn you in a most stern, unfriendly manner that no pictures are allowed. We were in the Bacilica during a mass. What a difference in terms of feeling and sound. The natural acoustics, which are augmented electronically, enhance the singing by the choir. Beautiful church, more delicate and refined than the older ones in Paris.

Sacre-Coeur itself is beautiful, on a hilltop, and enjoyed by many tourists and students. Montmartre is a must to see the artists at work, as well as street entertainers.

I was fortunate as i was staying in Montmartre so the last thing I saw at night before turning in was this magnificent building shining out. We had a little trouble finding the Sacre-Coeur as we seemed to go through all the back streets which were a little concerning in places, however they were fine, we got to the church and had a look around and it was very nice, there were good views of the city too.
