This cemetery provides a respite in the midst of a bustling area. Although it is a little confusing to navigate, it is a pleasure just to wander and encounter the unexpected. We went primarily to honor the memory of Truffaut and Berlioz (which we did) and ended up caught up in the midst of a processional for an actual funeral!...

Beautiful long walk from montmartre down to the cemetery, and cemetery itself is a piece of art. Most notably the grave of Dalida and her psychologist.

must see in paris. quiet and a lot of famous people's graves. we found hector berlioz and heinrich heine or fran. truffaut. look at the map at the entrance to find more. even the crowd of wild cats live there are famous :-)

Don't miss it it is educational and inspirational! We looked at it in June 2008. Stay at the Citidine hotel in Rachel Avenue ... so close and so inexpensive!

I loved this cemetery, it was beautiful but it was quite a maze and we did get lost in it. Not that we minded! Make sure you pick up a map at the entrance.

You can pick up a map from the very nice man just inside the front gate to the left. There was no charge! If you're looking for someone in particular it's worth stopping. The map, as with all cemetery maps, is open to... well... 'interpretation'. Take the locations as 'vague hints' rather than try to apply actual map reading skills....
