First of all, NEVER buy jarred truffles. As one reviewer reported: no flavor, absent of the deliciously earthy and unctuous fragrance and with the texture of tenderly cured rubber. Money wasted. We bought two jars of black truffles and brought them home. With much fanfare, we pepared home-made fettucini and shaved the truflles over the dish. There was absolutey no flavor and so smell. None. It was like the truffles didn't exist at all. Considering the premium price we paid, we feel we were cheated. Not sure what the problem is... More
