The inspiration for the design of the Maison Carree came from the temples of Apollo and Mars Ultor in Rome. Inside the Maison Carree, the multimedia spectacle plunges the visitor into Nimes' heroic past thanks to the usage of the most cutting-edge resources. This is an experience that transports the visitor back into the very heart of the ancient town. « less

The exterior of the structure is very well preserved and certainly worth a visit. The inside has been completely converted to a theater so you don't get to see any of what it used to look like. The movie is absolutely horrible...bad 3D, bad acting, bad story line; don't waste your time or money on the inside but still worthwhile... More

The Maison Carree is only one of the many fascinating remnants of the Romans in Nimes--a must see. However, wander the streets and you will be rewarded with many other remnants to enjoy in this vibrant and clearly different city of France. One thing to seek is the relief of Romulus and Remus drinking from a wolf--a clear sign of... More

The 3d show is entertaining and some great views on screen over the Pont De Gare. Excellent alternative if you can't get the bus to the real thing like us! More

Good to visit after a long walk to give your feet some rest as you sit down and watch a 3D film for 20 min. The film is about the history of Nimes, includes very scenic shoots of Pont du Gard, etc. Included in 3 for 10 attractions. More

The video was not well done. However, the building itself is amazing. More

As an historic structure it is superb and in excelletn condiution where you can walk all the way around it from the outside. Internally however you do not really get to see anything since it has been converted to being a 3D cinema showing a 22 minute film of some of the town's more memorable 'heroes'. The film was interesting... More

From the outside, this building is a masterpiece of Roman Temple architecture. Inside, gone is the great stature of the Emperor Augustus, and all there is to see for the hefty admission cost is a coarse Disney-style 3D movie on Roman gladiators and other aspects of Roman public entertainment. Don't stay away, but stay outside. More

it had a 30 min video in 3D which was in English subtitles - very interesting and a pleasant surprise. It's only the outside that is visible - inside, other than the film room, is not open to the public. Well worth it. More
