Hard to describe the feelings evoked by this preserved ruined village. Not your usual holiday venue but without doubt of of the most memorable.

My friend and myself came to france especially to visit the old town at Oradour-sur-Glane. Most visitors travel by car to get there, but we caught the bus from Limoges. (Ligne 12, leaves from the back of the Train Station). The exhibition is fascinating - but ensure you pay the extra tw,o euros for the headsets, it is money well...

The remains of the buildings are all still there, just preserved enough to keep them safe from tumbling down. The various buildings have plaques marking the residences and various shops that formed part of this obviously lively town....

It's not a ' wow!' experience.
Oradour-sur-Glane is a little town in the countryside. The Germans/Nazis have executed all the men in the village, driven the women and children into the church and set fire to church and the little village. The shells of the houses and church are still there, as a monument to the inhabitants, who were murdered...
