Another great cathedral!!! Wow does not do this place justice.....it is hard to miss as it stands out larger than life even behind the houses that surround it. The cathedral is sometime nicknamed the Good Lord's lantern as it possesses the largest expanses of stained glass windows in the world with 6,500 m2 (70,000 sq ft). The stained glass windows... More

Metz's cathedral was one of the most impressive I've visited in France. The stained glass windows are indeed amazing, especially the Chagalls. Though known for his blues, there is a simply breathtaking one in yellows, oranges, and purples that steals the show. The exterior is currently being cleaned, and the areas that have been cleaned reveal extraordinary detail. Inside, there... More

The cathedral is right in the center of Metz town, next to the food covered market. Huge and very beautiful, it has a blue window which was painted by Chagal. The entrance is free, next to the Cathedral the is an open parking and a covered one, the town of Metz is all pedonal so it is full of parkings. More

This is a magnificent cathedral with beautiful stained glass windows. The Chagall windows are brilliant but my favourite are the windows in the chapel of the Holy Sacrament by Roger Bissière and Jacques Villon. Apparently there are more stained glass windows in this cathedral than any other church worldwide. More

In the late afternoon, the setting sun imparts an incredible bright brown color to the church walls and towers. The fassade is very interesting and the lead vitrals are outstanding. More

An enormously high nave in the French style - almost as high as Beauvais, with the most wonderful collection of glass from the 14th century to a wonderful half dozen big Chagalls. Don't just zoom past on the Autoroute More
