We always head to Place du Capitole when we go to TOulouse as we are there regularly! The ambiance is just magic! Come rain, snow or shine, the cafés in les Arcades always have heaters, fans and covers to get that true city ambiance!!

Place du Capitole is the site of many open air markets. It is large so these are just in one small area and do not distract from the square which is lined with a walkway where scenes of Toulousean history are painted on the ceiling. Love the cafe's and restaurants on the Place du Capitole. You feel right at the heart of everything. Full of young and old alike, some visitors, others just going ahead with their usual day at work in Toulouse. Great place to meet up and plan your trip in this lovely City.

We stayed in the crowne plaza on the capitol so I was there a lot. I didn't really get to go during the day when all the vendors and stuff were out (Wednesday) but there were always a lot of people out at night and shops and restaurants to visit. cool place to see and hang out and people watch.

The Place du Capitole is beautiful at night. During the day we visited there were a lot of students all dressed up like Halloween. They were having fun and playing around. Pretty cool to see at night.

Like much of Toulouse, it is is pleasant and pretty; but it is not terribly exciting. Many of the cafes and restaurants around the square seem over-priced, and - like much of Toulouse - there are a number of tramps with their dogs loitering around. Fortunately, the street cleaners are there every day, but be careful where you step.
