This is 1.5 hours outside Paris but well worth it if you're a gardener or fan on Claude Monet. Gardens with in full-bloom and smelled wonderful in May. Line to the the home, but it moves quickly. Especially liked Monet's workroom that included a photo of him with all paintings hung 3-high on the walls, and reproduction paintings placed exactly... More

If you are not hiring a car and are staying in Paris,it takes a little time to get to Monet's House and Gardens. It is well worth the effort. The local buses are timed to meet the trains from Paris and it is all very convenient once you reach Giverny. The house and gardens are compact but wonderfully atmospheric whatever the weather.Lots of... The fabulous gardens and pretty pink house are kept beautifully and no one could be disappointed in the beauty and spirit in which Monet's creation is faithfully maintained. The gardens in front of the house are a feast of flowers, not a space between them, and an artist's palette of colours. The waterlily ponds were surrounded by the wonderful willows... More

Excellent. We are keen gardeners but this is quite unlike most gardens we have seen. Book in advance and be waiting at the gate as that way you have a chance of seeing the water garden without hordes of others More

We arrived early so avoided the bus tourists. We took our time wandering through the gardens and house. Be sure to have your camera ready. We took many close-ups of flowers and details throughout the town. It is a relaxing place to visit. More

Drove 2 hrs to get here. Parked before we got to the main carparks as signs are few, just like everywhere else in France...which isnt a bad thing in my opinion. Walked into Giverny and paid for a combined ticket at the exibition centre on the road towards the house which then enabled us to go to the front of... More

Claude Monet lived here and constructed an especially large studio to cope with his waterlilies (now in the Orangerie in Paris). Apart from the thrill of seeing where the great man lived, the gardens are indescribably beautiful and especially so as it was Spring in France. Lots of original paintings to see. It was Ascension day (a public holiday in... More

I had always imagined little kids playing in a fairy tail land where the grass is green, sky is blue, little spec of flowers floating on the grass making it look like an all too familiar Claude Monet painting...Giverny is so much more than that. No rides or children parks..but a beautiful and almost spetacular collection of flowers that animate... More

I wasn't sure if planning a half day trip here was a good idea due to some of the reviews I've seen online. We ended up going on May 1, 2012. It was a beautiful sunny day out, so that definitely helped. We booked the train from Paris prior before leaving for our vacation. Then bought a bus ticket at... More
