Why is this called the American Museum? They had a showing of one artist who was not American and it wasn't particularly good. He was obsessed with young maidens and bare breasts. Not atypical, but he was quite a commercial success in hiss time, painting murals for rich peopels' homes. Not impressed and I wouldn't waste my money or time. More

We were expecting works - probably reproductions - from a whole range of artists showing a variety of styles not just the work of one. The building was very impressive but much of the space seemed wasted and unused. More

I loved the exhibit that told the story of the museum. A beautiful collection and a must see if in Giverny. I would not travel to Giverny for the specific purpose of visiting this museum but don't pass up the opportunity to walk through if you are there. More

The gardens are sometimes more spectacular then at Monet;'s house, especially in June when the poppy field is in bloom. Every other year there is an important American exhibit there. The permanent collection is well worth the visit and the cafe is good for a break from the other cafes in Giverny. The gift shop is also remarkable. More

This was a very pleasant surprise as Monet's House and Garden had been our main reason for visiting Giverny - featuring 20 Renoirs amongst other masterpieces. The colour-themed gardens were also a delight. More

An exhibit from the Sterling Clark collection was on when we were there - absolutely amazing. The gardens are beautiful as well and the gift shop has some great items. The catalogue was sold out when we were there, but just as well as you can get it on Amazon and the salesperson consoled us by saying that it was... More

This museum is held in high regard in the world art community. Temporary exhibitions here are less crowded than when they move on to larger European and U.S. cities. More

as it shows rotating exhibitions the attractiveness of this museum depends on the current exhibition on display. Actualy the curators are excellent at choosing fine thematics & painters and the four exhibitions we saw were outstanding quality. The restaurant that is partly uotside, though certainly not gastronomic offers good value for money with good service and the tables in the... More

This little museum now punches well over its weight in this historic village of Giverny. It was my first visit and I almost gave this newly refurbished museum a miss because of the previous bad review for 1 November 2010 - which said "As for the paid exhibit, it's only 3 rooms and not worth the 7, 50 euros "....
