I remember when Vasarely was popular but I never imagined that his works were so big. They are colorful & interesting and now remind me of digital art before there was digital art. The bus from Aix is 1 euro & only 2.8 km if you want to walk. The museum building is also a work of art. More

Entry price is high and the place is rather run down which is a pity but that's why seeing it now is important. A visual treat and definitely worth the bus trip from town. As a painter interested in abstract art, this is a treat and exploration of space and colors. Non artists would love the graphic elements and optical... More

No need to expound on the merits of Victor Vasarely, the pioneer and virtual founder of geometric art and modern trompe d'oeil. This museum that also promoted the work of his son, Yvarel, offers a unique view of his accomplishments because it was built specially to accomodate his huge works and provide enough axial length between them and the viewer... I have been in Aix for more than 3 months and just visited the Foundation today - amazing, I don't know what I was waiting for! It's a mindboggling, weird but also very accessible experience. In fact, there were many children there who seemed to enjoy the "museum" quite a bit! You don't need any knowledge of art or Vasarely... More

I lived in Aix-en-Provence for 8 years before ever entering Vasarely. It always looked closed from the road. However, this summer, when visiting Aix with a friend we ventured and found it open. I was amazed by how brilliant the artwork was and even bought a poster to take home to remind me. The entry was cheap and well worth... More

I was at the Foundation Vasarely as it was the venue for the "Terretoires electronique" music festival a few years ago. The venue is breathtaking and is such a contrast to the surrounding area. The building is full of interesting nooks and crannies and feels a bit like being in the 70s vision of what the future looks like. Brilliant... More

I really enjoyed the Foundation Vasarely. It's a totally different museum experience than any of the other ones you will visit in France. I didn't even know who Victor Vasarely was before I came here. He is famous for optical art, and everything in the museum screams it. First, there's the building itself, which was designed by Vasarely. The outside... More
