Housed in an interesting venue near Roman ruins, this is a great small collection of early Matisse work that show his evolution as an artist. Our guide was helpful. this a great asset to Nice and a must see for art lovers!

This museum, set in an old house, has only a limited collection, but it is a very nice collection and one can enjoy it without suffering museum fatigue. It is next to the archeology museum and easily reachable by public bus.

We went by bus and having been told where to get off by a helpful local chap, we were disconcerted to see that the entrance to the park containing the museum said "Disabled Access to the Musee Matisse" so we carried on following the railings. The next gap in the railings also said ""Disabled Access to the Musee Matisse" so...

More a museum of this artist's life rather than his works. Not easy walking (uphill) but several buses go in that direction from Place Massena.

This is a marvelous museum in a very pleasant setting. The park surrounding the museum was bustling with children playing and people stopping for coffee or to read the newspaper. It was almost like one of Matisse's pictures. The staff is friendly and the art is worth every penny. I could have spent the day here awesome.

Although perhaps not the largest collection of his work, it is well laid out, not over crowded (despite queues for entry) and contains some very interesting pieces by HM.

The museum itself is pretty light on, and has some sketches and other interesting features (such as models of his design of the chapel in Vence.) But don't bother if you are...

I am Henri Matisse's devoted fan. So for me visiting his home in Nice was a must. The villa is located in a very nice area - Cimiez. Next to the Museum you can find The Franciscan Monastery (Place du Monastère de Cimiez), where one can enjoy the sunshine in the beautiful garden. The Matisse villa itself is surrounded by...

you can see how multifaceted artist he was (drawings, pictures, sculptures) but there is no "personal data sheet" about Matisse. It´s pity.
