Well worth a visit, good as it is but a lot of construction work in progress. When completed (6 months?) the port will be a no miss attraction. Advise not to drive that area at the moment, it's murder with the road works!!!

A nice area to walk around. I read reviews on Trip Advisor before we came suggesting that tourists don't order the bouillabaisse. Unfortunately my husband got it into his head that he had to try it here and we didn't have long enough in the town (only late afternoon and evening before leaving early the next day) to really explore...

We stayed in a hotel near the Old Port and found this place a dynamic one. You can find nice restaurants near the 2 sides of the port, historical sites like the Fort and Abbey, Old town on the right hand side facing the port, shopping areas and Lafayette Galleris nearby, metro station to connect to train station and other...

Marseille and the old port are so integral to the history of France. Looking around or sitting drinking a coffe you can almost feel that history happening around you here. I loved it and will for sure be visiting again

Wonderful place for an afternoon stroll and coffee by the sea. I visited on a Sunday morning and the fish market was going on...very interesting! Great photo opportunities.

The tourist office, at the Old Port, which was supposed to open at 9:00, was still closed at 9:45. I have no idea when it actually opened, and we saw several people (including us) walk away disappointed.
I recommend a two-hour boat ride in the harbor.

With all the renovations to Vieux Port, as Marseille prepares for 2013 and the festivities associated with being named the Culture Capital, you can easily tire of dodging closed sidewalks, broken tiles, etc. But, from my experience, all the merchants are trying to make the best of the construction mess and all the cafes, bistros, shops were open and busy....

If you are going to visit Vieux Port, please be aware that there is a lot of construction work going on, so it's not the best view now and it's hard to move there. I don't know how long this work will take, but i definitely would like to see Vieux Port again, after reconstruction.

Scenic and safe. Great ferry tour of Chateau d'If. Excellent restaurants and friendly service

Beautiful port with amazing battlements surrounding the entrance. Sadly the whole of Marseille is under going a huge renovation and the area is difficult to negotiate and you will find it hard to appreciate the charm of the port. Even the castle Is closed and the park Pharo has restricted aces to the views from the palace.
