I have travelled in and around this part of France for many years, but had not visited the gallo-romaine museum and site at St Romain-en-Gal until November this year, 2008. This can be explained by the fact that this wonderful site does not appear to be well publicized

This site just across the river from Vienne France gives one an excellent experience as to what a Roman City looked like. Inside the Museum there are artifacts that have been found on the site. Having friends in Vienne, I have visited there many times. The city itself is worth a visit, charming and old style. Wonderful Roman ruins throughout the town and other sites that make a day delightful.
