the purpose of my visit was to attend 3 events at the Festspielhaus. I was not disappointed. Though I had known the artists would be wonderful, the theatre itself was a delightful surprise, attractive, and very good acoustically.
NEGATIVE SIDE: The concert hall and all rooms were extremely over heated at all performances, detracting from the pleasure of the events.

I spent about 14 hours at the Festspielhaus this month, at the Mariinksy theatre's 'Ring Cycle'.
Severe problems with the production (poor singers) but the theatre is a treat!

The FestSpielHaus is a fascinating building. Fronted by the old station building which is now the foyer and box office, the actual opera house itself is a modern glass and brick building opened in the late 1990's.
