This place was gorgeous. The service was great, the ambiance wonderful, and the drinks tasty. I always drink gin and tonic and the adorable bar tender suggested I try a local gin with 47 herbs and it was, indeed, fantastic. Highly recommended. Pretty empty until later at night. More

The original function of this splendid neo-classical building was to allow visitors to Baden-Baden to 'take the waters', that is to drink the mineral waters guaranteed to cure a whole panoply of ills. You can still, do this, of course, though I'm not sure quite what they would do for you. Better to head over to your left, to the... More

Don't drink the water -in fact they advise you only to have a little, but the atmosphere is really evocative of a bygone era More

At the start of our self-guided driving tour through the Black Forest, we stopped in Baden-Baden and were bored. Walked up to the Pump Room and took the obligatory photos but nothing exciting and nothing worth recommending unless you want to hit the baths, which we didn't. Bathrooms are pay (as are most around Europe) and you can buy a... More

An architechtural beauty, this large elaborate hall is lined outside with frescos and pillars. For a few cents you can buy a plastic cup inside and fill it up at the indoor fountain with the famous healing waters (or fill up your own cup or water bottle for free). Sip away while sitting on one of the many benches outside,... More
