I visited Salzburg, Austria in mid-July 2009 and was surprised to discover that Hitler's Eagle's Nest was just over the border in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany. Being a history buff, I decided I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a guided tour. After researching the place online and in Rick Steves' guide, I booked and paid for it online with... more

Due to weather, we never made it to Eagle's Nest. Once again, we tried a day tour with Viator and, again, I will attach the relevant part of my letter to them. On October 16, 2009 (Friday), we took your tour to Berchtesgaden & Eagleʼs Nest (VIATOR , cost: $69.16 per person plus 13 euro per person entrance fees). Because... more

Eagles nest was had great views, but unless you go on the tour, all you see is the scenery and the restaurant which is on top of the mountain. You have to book the tour in advance, and it's only once a day at 1:30 pm. The cost when I was there was 60 euros. We didn't know about it... more

My wife and I did the Eagle's Nest Historic Tour (www.eagles-nest-tours.com) on our honeymoon, and we loved it. The tour guide was great, very thorough, and informative. We loved the history, beautiful views and professionalism of our tour guide (can't remember his name, but he was an expert on the area). Would recommend this tour highly! more

The Eagle's Nest tour given by Christine Harper was an outstanding experience on all counts, one of the very best of many historical tours my wife and I have taken. Nothing is more important on a historical tour than the communication and interpretation of events. The four-hour tour, including transit, was detailed and riveting. What most impressed me was the... more

Eh, this place is worked up more then what's really there. Yeah the views are pretty but other then that there isnt much to this place, especially for 14 euro. There are way cooler things to do in Berchtesgaden then this, like the Salt mines!!!!! more

This was by far our favorite and best tour of all the tours we took over a two week trip throughout Germany and Eastern Europe. It is unlike any tour we've ever taken. We enjoyed the tour immensely and appreciated David Harper's incredible knowledge of the area and it's history. more

Eagles' nest is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The view from the mountains is absolutely breathtaking. I had to sit alone for half an hour just taking everything in and admiring the awesome guy hang gliding in front of me. Some people have criticized me for wanting to see Hitler's residence but I think it's... more

If you have a fear of heights, you may want to skip this attraction. The bus ride to the top of the mountain is steep and there are sheer drop-offs that scare even the bravest traveller! But, the views are to die for! It is one of the most beautiful places on earth! The actual house is nothing special at... more
