We took our kids to ski on Alpspitz. The hills are great and there are many different levels to choose from. It was so beautiful up there. More

Best to get a roundtrip ticket at the mountain railways. Two stops to Kreutzeck then up by cable car to Alpspitze station (2050m). Nice restaurant, great views including glass/wiremesh platform. Various walking trails. Can try paragliding on back of instructor - at a price. Then the next cable car (Hochalmbahn) down 1700m. Walk back from there to the the Kreutzeckbahn... More

The hike from the cable car station to the top of the Alpspitze is a popular route - but have in mind that this not a "normal" hiking trail but a fixed rope route which requires appropriate gear. It is not mandatory and guide books usually only "recommend" it but going freestyle should only be performed by extremely experienced climbers... More

We were in Garmisch on September 7-8, 2006 and had a great time! There were tons of great hiking trails around the alpspitz. Be sure to take good hiking boots, and a walking stick would be helpful. I hope I get the chance to go back! More
