Impossible to take it all in during a short visit. Loved the walk back down on a beautiful fall day but glad we didn't hike all the way o or we would have shortened our tour of the castle. More

We just returned from a trip to Germany and am so glad we drove to Coburg to visit the Veste Coburg. Beautfiul views from the the top. Only managed to see a few rooms as we decided to tour the musem on our own. However, we enjoyed seeing the sled, armor and various weapons from that era. An amazing place... More

I would recommend this tour highly a bit of a hike but a fantastice view! We found there was not really a clear place to park so we picked a sidestreet (free parking a rare commodity in Europe) and hiked uphill for about 15 minutes. Quite a site though if you like castles! Staff were very friendly spoke english and... More

I went here in high school during an exchange program and visited again in college. I still remember how spectacular the castle is! I have been living in Germany for a few years now, I think this is a hidden gem. Many Germans I speak to do not know about this castle. It is still well-preserved and gives spectacular views... More

First let me say that my wife had no interest in seeing this, since the Michelin Green guide said this was "one of the best preserved" fortresses around. (It says this about a lot of things in Germany) Went anyway, and we were not disappointed. Parking was 2 euro, a short walk up to the castle gate. Beautiful immaculate grounds,... More

The castle is perched high on a hill overlooking the town of Coburg. A long and winding drive takes you from the highway past the airport to it. From the overflow carpark you have a nice distant view of the massive fortress. Up close the fortress is huge, certainly bigger than Warwick Castle in Britain. The self guided tour takes... More
