We purchased the combo ticket that allowed us to tour both Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle (was about 23 Euro per adult). Note: Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to reach each castle! We spaced our tours a few hours apart to allow time for a snack break in the village and time to either walk to take... More

They are rehabbing the exterior of the castle, which severely limits picture taking opportunities.Nueschwanstein is beautiful ,however, and the interiors far outshine those of Schloss Linderhof. The walking path to the castle is fairly steep and be mindful of horse manure along the way. More

Too bad it's still under renovations, so parts of the castle have framed screens covering the walls. The pics from the bridge are still great, and the visit to the castle is mandatory! Walk down the valley after you visit the castle for amazing views of waterfalls and a great scenery! Went there with Big Hat Tours and it was... More

Every since I saw a picture of this castle as a child I've wanted to visit it. The only negative was that two sides are covered with scaffolding and wrap for restoration work that is scheduled to be completed in 2013. We purchased the combo ticket to see the Hohenschwangau Castle, Neuschwanstein Castle and the museum and we saw Hohenschwangau... More

I have mixed feelings about my visit to this castle. Overall I'd still rate it very good because the good factors still outweigh the not so good ones. Let's start with the not-so-good factors. This castle is popular because it inspired the Disney castle. However it is so popular that you need to prove how much want to see this... More

We visited this castle yesterday. Took a trip on a bus company called Autobus Oberbayern. Well organised trip - took us to to Linderhof and then to Neuschwanstein with a lunch break in between at the base of the Neuschwanstein hill. We decided to walk it up - takes about 20 mins. The other options are to take a bus... More

One attraction I just had to see whilst in Europe in Feb 2011 was Neuschwanstein Castle in Lower Bavaria, not far from Munich. We took the full day group tour from Munich and what a day it was... I shall never forget, just how very beautiful everything was. The day was perfect, snow everywhere, just like in my dreams, a... More

Probably one of the most visited castles in Germany, and well worth the trip. A few warnings before we go on-this place has NO lifts and many stairs to climb during the visit, also if you take the bus or the horses, you will have to walk about .1 or .2km up some pretty steep inclines. If I were to... More

This is the iconic castle featured in Disney's logos. It is just 2 hours train ride from Munich and in the way you can see great landscape. You arrive to the town of Hohenschwangau and then you can either walk to the castle, which is a 30-40 minute walk uphill in a steep road, or take a bus up and... More
