The large collection has a lot to offer if you like pop art and Cy Twombly. The young abstract painters I know do not find the Cy Twombly selection remotely enriching. Too bad about the misuse of good exhibition room. Second the collection is so large the the curators feel obligated to overfill much of the space. This does not... More

Amazing museum, it's not too large so actually managable to visit, great selection of modern with a bit of contemporary art. Not big, but enough. The wooden features of the building make you feel relaxed compared to other museums. It's an overall experience rather than coming to see certain works. More

The architecture is so good with high ceiling and translucent roof that can lit the collection so they can cut the electricity is so Germany ! from the collection is mostly contemporary art from Andy Warhol to Damien Hirst. It was great to see so many great contemporary art work in this museum and in the back of the museum... More

Full disclosure: I'm not much of a "modern art" fan. This museum is purely modern art, which in my eyes is not truly art. On the other hand, it is expertly curated and presents a nice balance of pieces of different types that doesn't overwhelm the museum-goer. The best part, in my opinion, was the building itself. It's fresh without... More

An absolute must see for all interested in modern / contemporary art and architecture. Impressive Paintings from Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly (Lepanto cycle) - Gerhard Richter and more - I could go there every day and stay for hours. Location is in the museum areal of Munich, so next to it is also Pinakothek der Moderne (also very impressive collection... More

Unfortunately I don't like the art they exhibit, which is very contemporary: there is some wonderful Andy Warhol stuff there but it looks almost old fashioned compared to most of the other works. But the building itself is a wonderful place, spacious and beautiful and a pleasure to walk through, with big exhibition spaces, and best of all - places... More

The museum of modern art in Frankfurt is better. We went to see the Warhols and Hirst, and because we had this fantastic ticket which gave us entrance to the Brandshorst and all the three pinatotheks for just 12 euros. If you are a modern art buff, you need to visit - if not skip it if you don't have... More

The newest addition to the Pinakothek area, Museum Brandhorst opened in 2009, with some of the biggest names in modern art exhibited inside. Expect lots of Andy Warhol and Cy Twombly (his Lepanto series is one of the corner stones in the collection), with other work from artists such as Sigmar Polke, Damien Hirst and Kurt Schwitters. Museum Brandhorst is... More
