A few of the later paintings are by other European painters such as Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Impressionists such as Monet and Degas. The building itself merits a visit... von... More

When I went there, there was a special exhibition with George Stubbs, an English painter from 1700 and something - his main specialty was to paint...horses - so there was a certain number of paintings with horses in different angles and positions - most interesting was his paintings of a zebra and a rhino. That was not really inspiring or... More

The Bavarian royalty not only built castles on the dime of their subjects, they also spent it on amassing one of the best collection of paintings in the world. Most of it is housed in the complimentary Alte (old) and Neue (new) Pinakothek, but also in various other smaller museums nearby. More

We just called in for a quick lunchtime snack between veiwing the paintings. The deserts looked great but we chose the 'Paninis' and were not disappointed, hot, fresh and delicious. The coffe was so good that I had to re-order. Clean and pleasant environment with courteous and attentive staff. More

The permanent collection is superb. The design if the NP allows for multiple types of browsing via ramp or gradual stairs and lots of great little ante rooms. It is nicely systemised tower so you won't miss a spot. More

This museum is devoted to the paintings of the 19th century - a century when realistic painting was at a maximum, technically speaking. The topics, however, were restricted to classical myths and legends, to military successes and the sagas of the courts. So, maybe you will not be able to speak the language of these masterpieces, however, they should be... More
