What a great museum - and if you go on Sunday it is only 1 euro! We arrived within an hour of opening and the crowd was light but by afternoon it was very busy. The tours camp out in front of some of the most famous paintings and keep other patrons from being able to enjoy them until they... More

Situated right across the Old Pinakothek, the New Pinakothek is a veritable depository of wonderful works of art. Watch out for the Romantics, especially the Nazarene group.

There are undoubtedly better gallerias to visit in Europe but a fine museum covering the 1800 to early 20th Century housed in a beautiful and well thought out building. The German paintings covering the early to mid 19th Century are particularly worth seeing, along with some fine Picassos.

I'd been to the Alte Pinakothek on a previous trip but this was my first visit to its sister gallery. It has a refreshingly different collection of mostly 19th century art: some well-known names (e.g. Caspar David Friedrich) but also many German and other artists I hadn't heard of before. On our visit it also displayed some works from the... More

We have been to Neue Pinakothek several times on a sunday (where it is just 1 euro). It is a lovely building on the inside and the art displayed is very interesting. We have been with our 1 year old and she enjoys looking around at the art too. I would recommend it highly for children and families.

Neue Pinakothek was founded by King Bavarian King Ludwig, and have collected about 5,000 works between mid-18th century and the 20th century. One of the best paintings is Van Gogh's Sunflowers. When I observed the part of this depending on the zoom function of the camera, the glacis could be grasped well. The glacis is a technique which the transparent... More

We had a combined ticket for the Alte Pinakothek, the Neue Pinakothek and the modern art building a bit further down the road. I was amazed at the art I saw here. I did not expect Van Gogh's Sunflowers, the Rodin's, the Matisse, Monet etc. I did expect some Klimt and was not disappointed. For lovers of art this is... More

Excellent exhibitions in an interesting buiding - allow at least 2 hours. You could combine this with the Old Pinakothek over the road - but strangely, they don't do 'Combination' tickets.

I would not recommed this gallery for lovers of modern art. Most of the standing collection sates from 18th and 19th centuries, and half of the more more modern paintings are in the style of old dutch masters / earlier sacred. Two or three rooms of Braque, Monet, Picasso, Klee, etc. that are interesting. Three wonderful Van Goghs, including the... More
