If you visit the Residenz, you have to pay a lot extra to see the Theater. Not worth the money. The place is nice and all, but really, it's nothing more than that.

This is a gorgeous theater which I am sure would be amazing for a live performance. We went in as part of the 3-piece Munich Residenz tour and it took about 3.5 minutes to walk around the see the whole thing. The day I was there a rehersal was in progress for the evenings performance; a suprano singing with an orchestra. It was one of the highlights of my trip. October 2008.
A must for anyone who loves great music and great architecture.

I spent a pleasant afternoon touring the Residenz complex which was home to the Wittelsbach family for hundreds of years. I paused when I learned that it cost extra to see the Cuvillies Theater, but decided to spend the extra 4 Euros anyway and am very glad I did. The place is magnificent.
