This is one of the most interesting to visit in Munich! Put this at the top of your list of Must-See-List! I visited the Residenz Royal Palace in the morning and was pleased at how few people were there compared to in the afternoon. With a combined Residence and Treasury ticket you will be busy for a good half of... more

One of the highlights of my recent visit to Munich was an afternoon self-guided tour of the Residenz palace complex begun in the fourteenth century. I bought the combination ticket that includes the Residenz, the Treasury, and the Cuvillies Theater. The latter cost an extra 4 Euros, but it was well worth the time, effort, and expense. The Residenz was... more

The Munich Residenz is a completely reconstructed palace. There is spectacular architecture, historical furnishings and decor and stunning grand halls. If you want a feel for royal Munich, go here! I recommend getting the combined ticket for the Residenz and the Treasury. Visit the Residenz first, leave to get lunch at one of the nearby cafes, then return for the... more

This was one of my favourite places in Munich and was well worth the reasonable entrance fee. Make sure you get an audio guide, my husband and I found it really useful in informing us on the history of the particular room we were in. There are so many rooms and they are all different but all very opulent. If... more

The Resdienz was gorgeous. If you are into history or museums, you probably already have this near the top of your list of things to do. If you're going to be in Munich on a Sunday, put it at the top. The Residenz was bombed extensively during WWII, but continuous remodeling has restored much of what was lost. There is... more

The Munich Residenz was without a doubt one of the most elaborate and beautiful places we visited in all of Germany. The incredible collection of art, furniture, plasterwork...everything was simply incredible. They offer those hand held "tour wands" in various languages so you can tour the museum at your own pace, stopping to listen at each station using an assigned... more

The Residenz was one of our favorite attractions in Germany. We preferred it over the Nymphenburg Palace and Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau and the Wurzburg palace. What a vast concentration of art and furniture and stunning rooms, and what was so nice was that we were allowed to take it at our own pace, no rushing through like on an organized... more

We went here after several of Ludwig's castles and were obviously disappointed. The castle tours are informative and interesting, just long enough for the average attention span. This place is huge and the audio guide is too detailed for the average tourist's level of interest. The treasury section was more enjoyable. more

I was misled by the guide book into thinking that the Residenz stays open till 8 pm on Thursdays. It doesn't. I entered at 5.15, and from the moment I arrived I found myself being chased around by attendants eager to shut up shop. You need two hours here, not 45 minutes, and although I saw most of the state... more
