Lovely building, layout and set up of museum. History and info sadly only available in German. Quite a grown up day for older kids, say 6+ as there aren't too many interactive activities as say York Railway museum, or Lucerne Transport Museum. The first floors were mainly historical and informative. However the 3rd floor was a great area for kids... More

The exhibit is a train museum for Germany, so comes from the angle of both showing a history of rail then how they developed in Germany. This ties into Nuremberg which was both a hub for German trains and the Nazi party. It was interesting to see the split up between East and West German trains last century. For those... More

A cheap way to spend the morning. The exhibits were very good with lots and lots of models of the various trains through the ages. Quite a few diaramas and a huge train set. The historical trains (the real ones) while being of excellent quality however, failed to impress, being too close together to allow for closer inspection. There weren't... More

Lots for railway buffs to enjoy. We particularly liked the sensational carriage of Ludwig II of Bavaria, and found the section on the railways and the Holocaust fascinating. We were glad to know that railways were brought to Germany by an engineer from Robert Stephenson's company! Not so good were the hordes of noisy schoolchildren. More

Who doesn't like trains? The many exhibits found each member of our family something to be excited and interested in. Just a block from the opera house metro exit makes this an easy place to find and visit. We'd go again! More

Very informative exposition of the development of the rail system in Germany, including a sensitive account of its role during the Nazi era and of the network's division and reunion in the post war era. Entry prices reduced for people with a rail ticket. More
