I can't believe how few Americans seem to know about the old city in Nuernberg. In my opinion, compared to other large cities, it is the prettiest old city in the German speaking area, comparable to the old city of Salzburg. I first visited Nuremberg in Feb 2010 and I immediately liked it. The Nuremberg Altstadt has many highlights including the surrounding wall, the Imperial fortress, the Albrecht Durer house, and of course the Frauenkirche. Overall, I highly recommend Nuremberg for anybody planning to visit Germany. More

You can get there around main station. Not so long beautiful street. You can visit lorenz kirche (church) and Frau kirche and Nuremberg castle and some other historic place within it. More

The Alstadt is a beautiful place to stroll, shop or people-watch. The buildings are everything you'd expect of a historic old inner city with churches, fountains, walls and turrets. Photo opps abound and there are small shops and cafes as well as more upscale stores. And all very compact and walkable. More

Altstadt is the perfect harmony of tourism and traditional bavaria... The churches are beautiful, and there are many little gems in the centre for food and shopping. Altstadt is not big, so you can walk there without public transport. There definitely so much to see. Nice clean streets, pretty local small stores.
