Within the walls of the old town are beautiful, historical buildings to take photos of and read about--don't miss them. And there is store after store of everything imaginable--high end to nice department stores. Don't forget to enjoy coffee and dessert. More

I can't believe how few Americans seem to know about the old city in Nuernberg. In my opinion, compared to other large cities, it is the prettiest old city in the German speaking area, comparable to the old city of Salzburg. It is much more worth a visit than Munich, if you are looking for old and medival and castles... More

I first visited Nuremberg in Feb 2010 and I immediately liked it. The Nuremberg Altstadt has many highlights including the surrounding wall, the Imperial fortress, the Albrecht Durer house, and of course the Frauenkirche. Overall, I highly recommend Nuremberg for anybody planning to visit Germany. More

Get away from the wall and to the north side - it was much better and less crowds. More

Nuremberg's Old Town is charming and easily walkable. It is a short walk from the main train station, and there is so much to see in this area. There are cobblestone streets and adorable half-timbered buildings everywhere. There are cafes and restaurants on every street serving traditional local food. The highlights of our visit were going inside the beautiful gothic... More

The Alstadt is a beautiful place to stroll, shop or people-watch. The buildings are everything you'd expect of a historic old inner city with churches, fountains, walls and turrets. Photo opps abound and there are small shops and cafes as well as more upscale stores. And all very compact and walkable. More

Altstadt is the perfect harmony of tourism and traditional bavaria... The churches are beautiful, and there are many little gems in the centre for food and shopping. I loved taking a walk through the back streets of the area and taking photos. There is also a central statue with two canons coming out, one is supposed to be lucky for... More

Altstadt is not big, so you can walk there without public transport. There definitely so much to see. Nice clean streets, pretty local small stores. Sometimes also the big ones.:-) Try the Nurnberg wurst. It is pretty tasty. Or the Pretzel, hope I wrote it well. Pretzel, yes. There was bakery, near the BIG church, very nice and friendly staff...
